180° Rule
This is a simple rule when filming and its when the two actors that you are filming are opposite to each other 180° wise (facing each other). The two actors have the same relation in terms or left and right. When the camera passes the axis which is the 180° rule the rule is therefore broken and called “crossing the line” This rule is used to easily film a conversation between two people. When the characters move they have to both move so that they do not brake the 180° rule which is why when there is a conversation going on in a room they will mostly likely be moving around often or at least in line with the axis to each other. |
The rule of third
The rule of third is a rule that can be easily broke but does help you when taking a photo. It makes sure your work is interesting and inline. Were the lines are the interesting parts of the photo are, it’s a guide to follow. The rule of third is always being used in a photo even if you don’t know what it is. When you move your camera slightly to fit something into the shot you are using the rule of third. Example- If you are taking a selfie and your friend is behind you and want to fit him into the shot that Is using the rule of third. |
